One more important date

I forgot on my previous post that the choir will be singing at the capitol building on March 6 at 1:00p.m. in the Rotunda.  This is a fabulous opportunity for us!

Concert Dates

There are several performances coming up in March for music students here at VCS.  Please take note and put them on your calendar:

March 1 at 7:00p.m. in the lunch room - Middle School Choir Pops Concert

March 13 at 7:00p.m. in the lunch room - Intermediate Symphony Pops Concert and Advanced Symphony post-festival concert

March 14 at 3:15p.m. in the lunch room or music room - RAD auditions

March 20 at 1:30p.m. in the lunch room - 2nd/3rd grade program "Children of the World"

Symphony - solo and ensemble festival

For High School students interested in participating in solo and ensemble festival, woodwind, brass, and percussion day is March 6 (yes, the day after regular festival...), and strings day is March 20 and 21.  Please let me know ASAP if you are interested in participating so I can help you choose your music.

For Elementary Parents and Students

The second week back will be a piano lab for kindergarten through 5th grades.  Students who take lessons may bring their lesson books to music January 9-12 and practice for their lessons.  The rest of the class will quickly review what we have done and then move forward to learning more!  I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!

 

Middle School Choir

Make sure you bring all Christmas music to turn in on Tuesday.  We will be reviewing solfege and beginning to look at new pieces, as well as discussing your final for the first semester.  On Wednesday, at the end of class, you'll be handed a study guide for your written final.  Your singing final will be January 11, and your written final will be January 12.  I hope you had a very Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!

Symphony

Any students who  did not turn in your Christmas music at the concert need to bring it to turn in on Wednesday.  You will receive your new music at this time and learn what your playing final for first semester will be.  On Friday, you will be working on your playing final and receive a study guide for your written final.  Your playing final will be on January 9, and your written final will be on January 12.  I hope you had a very Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!

Beginning Guitar

Tuesday will be spent in review and practicing how to tune your own instrument.  Friday, you will receive a study guide for you written final and have time to practice for your playing final.  The playing final will be on January 10, and the written final will be on January 11.  I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!
