Our first Progress Report has gone home. Unfortunately, there were not a lot of grades during these first 5 weeks. But we are working hard and learning how to be third graders.

What a busy week we had in Third Grade last week!
Reading: This week we have continued to work on Check for Understanding and also Using Prior Knowledge as our comprehension focus. We have also begun Work on Writing. This is our time each day to brainstorm ideas and write drafts of things that have happened in our lives.

Can it be May already!? Has it really been since January 30th that I have written here? I apologize for the long break. I’m afraid time just got away from me. After recovering from a sinus and ear infection, we headed right into ISAT testing. My mind just wasn’t on the BLOG. I am sorry.

A big THANK YOU to all who helped with our Center Day on Thursday!! I could not do it without your help. I felt it was very successful and much was accomplished. Our next Center Day will be Thursday, February 23rd. More information will come as the date draws closer.

This Thursday is our next Center Day! The times are 8:30 to 9:50; 10:15 – 10:30 and 11:30 to 12:30. Come for part of the time or the whole morning, whatever works for you. Your students love to have you visit our class and I appreciate your help!
Thursday is also the date of our next Spelling Test. Students will be responsible for the words on the new list, as well as, all of the words on the first list. There will be 20 words on the test; the 10 new words and 10 from the first list.

Welcome Back!!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas break with your families.
Your 3rd graders are working hard to become great 4th graders. It is important to keep reading and practicing math skills at home to help them progress. The Reading Log should have come home yesterday (Tuesday) and the IXL Calendar should come home today (Wednesday).
