     Dear Students and Parents,

I am sending home permission slips for the Nutcracker performance that we will be attending next Wednesday.  I need to have that back, no later than next Monday, December 5.  If you can, please send in $2.00 to help offset the cost.

A special thanks to all of the parents who contributed in the food drive.  Because we have such an amazing group of kids and parents, each class earned a popcorn party; and because second grade was able to bring in the most cans, we earned a pizza party!  This will be on December 9th.  A special thanks to Mr. Short who will be sponsoring this!!

We are having a book exchange with first grade.  Please bring in a wrapped new or used (good condition) book before December 14th.  You can write your child’s name on it, but also include if it is for a; boy, girl, both or family book.  If you cannot provide one, please let me know as soon as possible so I can take care of this for you.  I would hate for any child to go without getting a book.

Our Christmas celebration will be on December 16.  We will watch part of The Polar Express in the morning and the rest after lunch with first grade.  We will then have a celebration.

Market day:  The kids have been so amazing that they have earned a market day, and just in time for the holidays!  Please send in the permission slip with items they can sell.  This will be sent home next week.  Market day will be on Thursday, December 15.

Math is being done in class with hands on exploration.  Your child is being challenged at their instructional level.  They are working on story problems, doing math centers and working one-on- one with me as well.   They are given in class assessments to help work on individual needs, and to assist for report cards.  I will let you know when math homework starts coming home.
