Dear Students and Parents,
Don’t wait until the last minute to order your lunches for February. Get a head start and order now!
Earlier this week I sent home book orders and the reminder on how to order on line for your convenience; or you can still bring in the order form along with a check. Orders are due by the 30th of this month.
Report cards will be going home next week. If your child receives an N in a sub category in math, and it was done with an assessment, I will be sending you home a copy of the assessment for you to go over with your child. I will also send home some re-teach math sheets for telling time and counting money if your child received an N in any of those two categories.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s grades, please feel free to call or email me to schedule an appointment. I have seen a big decline in students returning their reading calendars. Please make sure your child brings it back each month and has read at least 500 minutes. This does impact their overall reading grade.
Tuesday is the beginning of the new quarter, and we will begin moving forward on math. Since Christmas we have done some reviewing and assessing for the end of second quarter. We will continue to do this with the drops in the bucket and math 4 today. But, we also begin are math concept board which involves a lot of skills they need to know by the end of the year. This includes, money, adding fractions, multiplication, division and more advanced story problems. We are also working hard on place value, money, telling time and of course addition and subtraction. Each of these skills is taught in a way to ensure a deeper understanding of math. I realize some of you may feel that your child is above the drops and math 4 today. I have done several assessments, and each child is and will be working on skills that they need to be successful. They will also be working on skills in areas as review. That is what the drops and math 4 today are helping reinforce so they do not forget or lose the skills they already have.
