McDorman’s Minutes
4th Grade has started off beautifully! We have tested and are finishing up some last minute testing before getting into our regular routine. There will be reading, there will be language skills, and there will be lots of math! Each Friday the 4th graders will be tested on all that they have learned during the week.
You will have noticed that a home folder comes home each night. That folder is for both Mrs. Ayotte’s class and mine. The folder must go home each night and return each morning. This week I sent home fact sheets in page protectors. The students can write on these with Expo markers or Vis a Vis markers and cleaned off each time one is used. Each evening it would be very good for your child to complete one. On Friday’s we will be timing on each of them. I do not expect your child to pass them all yet.
We are finishing up Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing in class. Students will either be choosing their own novels or I will be assigning a novel at their level. There is a list of projects students have to choose from for each of their novels. They cannot choose the same project twice.
Students are allowed to have a snack between breakfast and lunch. Please send an easy snack for them to eat. Please refrain from sending junk food. All students are expected to have their own eating utensils and cups or water bottles. The school is not providing cups this year. Lunches can be ordered from the school and paid for 24 hours in advance for the month of September.
Students must turn work in on time or lose points. For each day a paper is late, a 25 pt. reduction will be taken. An A paper will only get a C if it is a day late. If your student was absent, he or she will have two days to make up one day of work.
I am enjoying getting to know each of my students. Thank you so much for letting me teach them.
