Dear Students and Parents,
What a wonderful week we have had! The kids really seemed to love The Wizard of Oz play we went to on Wednesday. A special thanks to the parents who helpedJ
I am so proud of how well the students did on their spelling test yesterday! Wow!!!! You will notice on the spelling that I attached a sheet of paper and had your child write the word(s) they missed five times each. I did not have them write the sentence if they missed it (third grade spelling). This is because most of the words were in their actual spelling test. As a reminder, if your child’s grade begins to drop below 80% in spelling, and they are doing third grade words, I will move them down to second spelling only. If your child is doing third grade spelling, most of their studying should be on those words and not the second grade words. They are still held accountable for the second grade words, but the third grade level words are a lot harder.
I sent home your child’s math level on Tuesday of this week. There first test will be next Thursday. Yesterday, we went over everything your child will be held accountable to know for the test. This went home yesterday as well. We will continue to go over it today and next week as well.
I sent home some scholastic book orders earlier this week. There are a lot more on line. If you want to order books for Christmas and need me to hold onto them, please email or call me and let me know. At the top of the order form should be the classroom code for you to access the website.
We started doing reading journals this week. Each week your child will need to do one and turn it in by Friday. This is done in class. It will be part of your child’s reading grade for this next quarter. Next month, your child will be doing a book report; some of it may need to be done at home. This is why I am doing this in class, so your child will know what to do when it comes down to the actual book report. The report packet along with more information will be coming home after Thanksgiving break.
