Hello there! My name is Debra Ellis, and I love being on the music department team here at Vision Charter School with my husband, Allen Ellis. I teach the elementary general music for kindergarten through fifth grade plus the orchestras for sixth grade, middle school, and high school. I received my B.A. in Music Education from Northwest Nazarene College (University) in 1999 and my M.A. in Music Education from Kent State University in 2012. I taught in the Nampa School district for three years, one at Central Elementary, two at Snake River Elementary. I left the teaching field for a little while when my husband and I decided to start a family and joined the teaching team at VCS in its first year. We now have a fourteen year old son, Robert, and twin eleven year old girls, Elizabeth and Emily. All three are students here at VCS. In addition to teaching at Vision for the last ten years, I have been one of the music directors for Music Theatre of Idaho, a local community theatre company. In doing so, I have been able to coach people of all ages (4 to mid sixties) in vocal technique, and I have had the joy of conducting many different pit orchestras for shows such as Les Miserables and CATS. I have been a member of the Boise Philharmonic second violin section since 1997. I am really looking forward to the upcoming school year. My colleagues in all subject areas are the best around and dedicated to providing the best education possible for our students! Contact Mrs. Ellis.
