In English, we corrected our root words packet, collected the story vocabulary sheet, and completed group discussion questions over The Tell Tale Heart.
I introduced the next writing assignment, in which the students will write their own samples of suspenseful writing. Their homework was to think some stories from their lives, to use in class on Wednesday.
A & P: Today students had the opportunity to listen to a presentation by a local dermatologist and have a Q&A session with her. Our guest speaker list this year is extensive and our students should be exposed to several different professions within the medical field. Students also need to work on the case study given in class today and study notes on axial skeleton for quiz on Thursday.

Tonight's movie night starts at 6:30 at the Vision Charter field. The PFA has now sponsored the event so admission for the movie and a bag of popcorn are free.

We have a great experience today with class elections. The candidates did an amazing job with their speeches and I was very impressed with the students. If your child gave a speech today, be sure to give them an extra hug today for doing such a great job. After tallying the votes, the winners are:

On Tuesday you should have received your child’s progress report. As a reminder, this is just a glimpse of what and how your child is doing in class. This is not meant to be a report card. As for sight words, this is something we need to have them practice and pass by the end of the year. It will not be a grade, but it will be used as goals for your child and used as information for your child’s third grade teacher.

Your child can practice their phonograms by going to Vision's website and clicking on Spalding Phonogram Zip File which is below Elementary Blogs. Follow the directions to save the file to your computer. I tried this with my computer and it wanted me to save it to My Pictures. Now I can go to My Pictures and open the file as needed.
A&P: We finished our first (one of several) lectures on the skeletal system. Students continued working with skeletal parts. Homework is to continue studying notes and memorize skeletal bones.
General Science (2A & 2B): Students took their test over cell parts/functions today. No homework over the weekend.

Today was a second "B" day in a row.
In English, we had a journal prompt, a vocabulary worksheet, and we read the first part of The Tell Tale Heart. There is no homework. On Friday, we will finish the story and have some post-reading discussion groups.

Biology: Today we took notes on cell structures, functions, and mitosis. Students have a short exam on Friday covering these things so their only homework is to study for this Friday's exam.
General Science (2B & 3B): Today we reviewed the relationship between subatomic particles in an atom and we also did some metric conversions with mass and length (see attachments below).
