What is a charter school?
- Charter schools are free, public schools open to all students. It is designed by a group of parents, educators, and community members that are mission driven. They follow the same rules and regulations as other public schools and participate in the same state mandated assessments. Parents must apply to have their child enrolled in a charter school.
Do I have to pay tuition for my child to attend Vision Charter School?
- No. Vision Charter School is a free, public school.

How do I enroll my child at VCS?
applications must be submitted by Friday, April 1, 2022. Applications submitted after
Friday, April 1, 2022 at 4:00p.m. will be placed into the lottery for the following year and at the
bottom of the waitlist for each grade level.
All prospective students will be given the opportunity to enroll in the FREE public charter
school, regardless of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, gender, social or economic
status, or special needs.
- Vision Charter School will hold its lottery for enrollment for the 2022-2023 school year beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022.

How does the lottery system work?
- Students applying for enrollment at Vision Charter School will be placed into different lottery tiers based on qualifying criteria. At the time of the lottery, available placements will be drawn from the following tiers in order until all available placements have been filled for that grade level:
- Students of founding families
- Students of full time staff members
- Siblings of enrolled VCS students
- New family to VCS within VCS enrollment boundaries
- New family to VCS outside of VCS enrollment boundaries
- After the lottery is complete all students who applied for enrollment will be mailed a letter to either accept their spot at VCS or notifying them of where they fall on the waitlist.
Can I come eat lunch with my child?
- Due to the current spread of COVID-19 in our area, guests are not allowed to come and have lunch with their student(s).
How do I volunteer in my student's classroom/for field trips?
- Thank you for wanting to help in your student's classroom! If your student's teacher needs classroom volunteers or field trip chaperones they will let parents know via email or a class newsletter. **Due to the current spread of COVID-19 in our area, we are not allowing volunteers in the classroom at this time. Your child's teacher will reach out if this changes.**
What happens if there's a snow day or emergency closure?
- In the event of school closure or emergency closure families can expect to receive a phone call at the number listed in your student's Infinite Campus profile. You may also check our website, Facebook page, or look for updates on KTVB channel 7, KBOI channel 2, and KIVI/KSAW channels 6 and 9.
