How will your student get to and from school?
If you need to have your student go home a different way than normal please notify the school office before 2pm by phone or send a signed note with your student to school in the morning.
SCHOOL BUS
Vision Charter has partnered with Brown Bus Company to provide free bussing to students living within VCS boundaries.
Please see our current bus routes and times by clicking on the Brown Bus Company link below. Times listed are an estimate ONLY, adjustments may take place in the first few weeks and throughout the school year.
Please note, your child(ren) must be at their bus stop a minimum of 5 minutes prior to their bus pick up time.
​All busses will be dismissed from VCS at 3:37 pm daily. Any questions related to your child's bus route should be directed to Brown Bus Company at (208) 455-2532.

To ensure a safe bus ride, students are expected to conduct themselves in a safe, orderly, and courteous manner. Students are expected to abide by the same rules as school and follow all safety expectations and guidelines provided by the bus company.
BUS SAFETY RULES
S Swearing or obscene language is not acceptable.
A Always remain seated.
F Follow the driver’s directions the first time.
E Everyone will be held responsible for their actions.
T Treat equipment and others with respect.
Y You must keep your hands to yourself and inside the bus.
Proper student conduct greatly contributes to the safety of the district’s transportation program. Because student behavior can directly impact safety, inappropriate conduct that threatens safe bus operations will result in disciplinary action. Vision Charter School students are expected to follow all school rules while on school transportation and will be held accountable for their behavior. The driver or school administration may issue bus citations for inappropriate or dangerous behavior or vandalism on the bus. Citations may result in suspension of bus riding privileges or consequences at the school.
Severe Clause:
The administrator and/or Brown Bus Company, in agreement with the Vision Charter Board, reserves the right to suspend bus riding privileges at any time in the case of severe misbehavior. Any student caught using a laser pointer on the bus will be given a citation for an extreme safety violation that will result in an immediate suspension from the bus. Persistent or serious violations of bus conduct procedures may result in the suspension of the student’s transportation privileges. Unless there are extenuating circumstances, the principal or designee, or the district supervisor of transportation, will suspend the student’s bus transportation privileges as follows:
First (1st) Suspension: Loss of bus transportation privileges for three (3) school days. Second (2nd) Suspension: Loss of bus transportation privileges for five (5) school days. Third (3rd) Suspension: Bus transportation privileges will be revoked for the remainder of the school year.
Due to limited spots on our buses, we are not able to approve students riding home on the bus with friends. Do not under any circumstances try to get your child out of the bus line or off a bus. Ask a staff member in a yellow vest for help.
**We do not have room for students to travel home with other students on the bus. This will not be permitted. We no longer offer a YMCA bus. If you live in our primary attendance area and it is the first time your child will ride the bus, register your child by emailing n.couch@brownbuscompany.com. Note your address and the bus stop you are requesting to use for the AM route and PM route

Drop Off

Please enter the campus by the Varsity Gym off Brush Creek Ave

Slowly proceed forward following the direction of staff members to a stopping point where you can safely let your student(s) exit your vehicle

​Students will only be unloaded from the right hand lane next to the sidewalk. The outer lane is for cars exiting the line

Please do not exit your vehicle while in line. If you need to leave your vehicle to help your student please park in the visitor parking lot in the front of the school

Once your student has exited your vehicle, safely merge into the driving lane and exit the campus via either of the 2 exit points
Pick Up

Please have your student's pick up sign hanging from your rear view mirror.

Form a line heading SOUTH on Ward Rd and wait to be released by a VCS staff member to enter onto the school campus.

Once on campus, continue to move forward as directed; always stopping at the crosswalk located at the kid corral and waiting to be moved forward.

The last name of students will be called, beginning with the car in front and staff will guide students to their vehicles. Students will only be loaded in the right hand lane next to the sidewalk. The outer lane beyond the kid corral is for those cars exiting the line only.

DO NOT cut in front of someone who is respectfully leaving space for the subdivision entrance. If you are headed North on Ward you will need to turn around on Skyway Road to get into the South facing line.

If you are picking up a Middle School or High School aged student, please wait to get into line until 5 minutes after your oldest student's release time. This allows our younger students to load and leave before your child is released. Coming earlier only causes you to slow down the line.
Parking
If you prefer to pick up your child and not wait in line, you may park in either parking lot and use designated crosswalks to walk to the VCS staff member wearing a BLUE vest near the flag pole. The line will form to the right of the staff member by the concrete bench. You MUST wait in line and show your ID. Your child will then be released to your care and you may escort them to your vehicle using designated crosswalks.
6th-12th grade students may properly cross at designated cross walks to their parents in a parked car after school. They are also welcome to pick up their younger siblings from the kid corral at the flagpole and walk them to the parking lot.
WALK OR BIKE
Parents are welcome to send a note allowing their child to walk home daily or walk to their car in line. (Some parents find it more convenient to park down at Sky Way Road and have their child walk to them daily.)
All students walking home will travel North on the the same route as the parent pick up line until they enter the Copper Creek subdivision. Vision Charter School will provide crossing guards at the corners of Brush Creek Ave and Jump Creek Road as well as at Ward and Jump Creek Road.
If your younger student is walking home with an older sibling or student they will wait for them in the kid corral before being released by a VCS staff member.
Students riding bikes/scooters/or any wheeled form of transportation must walk their mode of transportation until they have passed ALL VCS crossing guards.
